Progressive Era & American Imperialism Primary Sources Analysis Activity
This resource includes 3 carefully curated primary sources to analyze that will enhance any Progressive Era & U.S. Imperialism unit. It is aligned to my Progressive Era & American Imperialism Unit Bundle. Each of the primary documents focuses on one aspect of this time period to analyze. Encourage your students to think deeply about the topics associated with these topics. You can also assign the analysis activities as homework. There is a PDF & a GOOGLE version of the primary documents so you can easily assign to your students if you are teaching virtually.
American Imperialism Primary Sources documents include:
•letter to President William Taft about the harassment & discrimination African-American voters are facing at the election polls
•political cartoon about President Theodore Roosevelt’s Latin American policy
•letters to President Woodrow Wilson about the lynching of African Americans
•petitions signed by Native Hawaiians and a letter from Hawaiian Queen Liliuokalani protesting the annexation of the islands by the U.S.
