I have been in education since 2000, as a classroom teacher and instructional coach. Now I am a curriculum developer and create high-quality social studies curriculum for busy teachers. My most recent teaching assignment was middle grades social studies, and I quickly understood why my husband enjoyed teaching secondary social studies so much! While in the classroom, I wanted to help my students be successful, and I wanted them to look forward to class each day. I developed lessons and units that my students loved. My activities were student-centered and kept my students engaged. Many days my students commented they did not want class to end!
During my time as an instructional coach, though, I found that I loved helping teachers just as much as teaching students. After spending 17 years in a school setting, I decided it was time to follow my true passion: empowering teachers to be the best they can be. I created this site because teaching is NOT easy, and I wanted to take some of the stressors off of you, so you can enjoy your students and do what you love to do: Teach! I am excited to connect with you and look forward to working with you to help you maintain your sanity and your students succeed!
I have taught middle grades social studies and grades K-5 as a classroom, EIP, Title 1, and gifted teacher, and I was an instructional coach. I am also certified to teach middle grades ELA and science. I have my EdS in instruction, curriculum, and assessment, and I hold certifications in gifted education, on-line teaching, and administrative leadership.
